Everyone knows I love Christmas, and so does Becky, my assistant. I thought it would be really fun this year, after I was done the Santa pictures, and the family Christmas pictures to have some fun in the studio. I wanted to do something with the 12 Days of Christmas. Becky & I started brainstorming in November about some fun ways to photograph the days.
We came up with some fun and some crazy ideas…because really, who even knows what a colly bird is?? I know a lot of really great models who are good friends and got a great group together for this shoot; Andrea Zehr, Nicole Jutzi, Kyle Klooster & Luke Hirsch. Jennie Phelan of Cowboys & Angels stepped in and did an awesome job on the girls hair! Nicole Schirrmacher offered to do the makeup but ended up jumping in for the shoot too. I couldn’t have done this without them. So we all met at the studio on December 17th for some very serious festive fun.
We had an awesome evening, got really, really silly, but we laughed a lot and it was an amazing way to kick off the week before Christmas. Some of our interpretations are a little weirder than others but we hope they make you smile anyway. As for goose feathers…here’s a warning from me and Becky…do not try this at home!! What a mess…lol!
from Machado Photography we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!Details
I was invited to the Blooming Affair fashion show this year by Neil Moser. I’ve been taking photos at this event for a couple of years now, so it was kind of nice to sit back and watch the show. Well I didn’t end up doing a lot of that. I was pretty much glued to the stage watching all the gorgeous clothing come walking out.
If you haven’t hear of A Blooming Affair Fashion Show it’s a big hit in the Kitchener/ Waterloo community!!!! The show is part of KW Oktoberfest and this year it was really nice to take some casual shots of the Boulevard of Boutiques. There is plenty of great selection in ladies, men’s, and children’s wear, and nearly 900 women & men show up to the event. If your interested in fashion and love to see the latest trends like I do, this is the event for you!!! It’s a wonderful evening filled with casual wear, lingerie, and the most outstanding formal attire. This event features the newest fall fashions from many local businesses in the area that I truly love!
Elias & I went to high school together. A couple years ago I did a bunch of pictures for the release of his CD. Now Esco Raps is being carried at HMV and he’s making a video. The song has a shout out to Machado Photography in it so Elias wanted to include me in the video.
We were shooting at his apartment and his friends and family, including his totally adorable son Matteo were around to be part of things. Elias wanted the video to include footage of me shooting pics of him but he also wanted to shots to use for promotion of me working with him. So I had to get in front of the lens so my assistant could snap pictures of me, snapping pics of Elias!!
We had a fun evening. Matteo had an awesome time hamming it up for the camera. I’ve never done a music video before, and didn’t really love being in front of the camera, but I did have a good time with shooting Elias and his family and friends that came out for the video.Details
Christmas is the time to be generous and giving, so when Kim asked me to help by volunteering my services I was happy to jump in! The event was Pictures with Santa Paws, raising money for Boston Terrier Rescue Canada, an organization close to Kim`s heart.
Becky & I packed up the gear and headed to Global Pet Foods at the Laurelwood Plaza for a day full of fun of four-legged friends. Shooting animals is always a challenge but volunteer Santa Carlos Benevides from The Beat was great with the dogs and Becky handed out alot of treats and made alot of noise to get their attention. We had a ton of dogs and even one very unimpressed cat came out to see us!
It was great to be able to help raise money for this cause and it was a very fun day. I`ll turn Becky into a dog person yet!!Details
Edina & I went to high school together. She’d been following my Facebook and my website, so when she got engaged she sent me a message. She liked what she’d seen of my work a lot so she wanted me to do her wedding.
We originally talked about doing her engagement photos in August but we ended up going to Pioneer Tower in Deer Ridge for their pictures in September. I haven’t laughed this hard in a shoot in a while. At the beginning Edina & Adorian were trying to be very romantic and lovey in front of the camera…but they just kept bursting out laughing. It was hilarious!! As they got more comfortable being in front of the camera they got better at keeping the mood but that just goes to show why it’s such a good idea to do your engagement photos with your wedding photographer…imagine having a crazy case of the giggles combined with all the pressures of your wedding day!!Details
