I met Erin when she came into FAB, shopping for her wedding jewellery. We started chatting away about weddings, and then wedding photography and we really hit it off. I gave her my contact info and she called me later to book a meeting with her & Allen. Check out my blog from their engagement shoot at the Huron Nature Area in Kitchener.
Their ceremony and reception were both at St George’s Hall, but we headed out to West Montrose to the historic Covered Bridge for their pictures. It was a beautiful day on the August long weekend and we got some really great shots at this unique location. It was a nice sized wedding with a really fun party atmosphere.Details
It is so fun to share the excitement people feel when they’re expecting a baby, especially if it’s their first! I recently got to experience that with Susana and Luis.
They braved the cold of late autumn to be at Victoria Park which is a gorgeous setting anytime of year. I always worry when I’ve never worked with a couple before that they’ll be awkward and nervous in front of the camera. Not these two! They were so relaxed and had such a good time with me. Luis was a total natural and you could totally tell what a proud papa he’s going to be and Susana didn’t complain about the cold once, not even with her belly exposed!!Details
Alison & Ted were a referral from Alison’s sister Nicola’s wedding. I was so excited to hear that they wanted me to be apart of their big day! I blogged about their engagement shoot back in June of this year. We went to a local elementary school in Waterloo with their two boys and their very energetic dog Maggie.
Their October wedding was just down the street from where we took the engagement shots! After the ceremony we went and did their photos all around Uptown Waterloo. It was a pretty cold day but the fall colours were beautiful!!! The reception was at St George’s Hall where friends & family gave some really meaningful speeches. I was so taken with what Ted had to say about his bride and his boys. I honestly had to hold myself together to keep from balling at all the beautiful words he said along with everyone else.
I have heard some of the best speeches this year. After getting to know all the couples you can’t help but feel attached ….I have laughed my head off, cried a bit, some have even made me stop and think and have even helped me in a way. Love is a powerful thing, and I’m very fortunate to see that in my job especially with all the obstacles life can throw at us. I hope to hear many more wonderful words and to get to know many more couples.Details
Matt & Lindsay were a referral from Matt’s cousin Shannon Thompson. I shot Shannon and Jeff’s wedding a couple years ago in Port Elgin. I was all over that reception taking all sorts of candids of the guests and took one of Lindsay & Matt that they loved and they always remembered me. I’d run into Lindsay a bunch of times since then and eventually we started talked about their wedding plans.
On their wedding day it was overcast, like most of the weddings I’ve had this fall but it was actually a perfect day to shoot on. We took pictures around Doon and they had a big awesome reception at the Concordia Club. There was Oktoberfest sausage, sliders, a live band, great speeches and an all round great time.
Their wedding was also the first time I did a photo booth! We set up the booth and one of Lindsay’s friends made a great assortment of props for people to play with. The guests had a great time with this addition and it has given Lindsay and Matt a totally fun collection of memories of their big day.Details
Scott Henderson of Scallan Professional Event Planning came to me and asked me if I would like to take pictures of the party they put together at the Bombshelter at UofW. I love costumes and I love Halloween so I was happy to get involved.
A shoot like this is challenging because I have very little control over set up and lighting and there is so much happening. People put together some really amazing costumes and awards were given out for individual and group costume efforts.

This engagement shoot took place at Tricia’s friend’s campground called Country Gardens on Witmer Road in Mannheim. Tricia told me it was a very pretty landscape and thought it would be a nice setting for engagement shots and she was totally right!!! It was a great spot with lots of beautiful scenery and some rustic areas.
I’m so glad that I met Tricia when she did all the girls’ hair for Erin and Allen’s wedding. We really hit it off!!! She has such an outgoing personality that I truly admire. It was wonderful to really get to know Tricia & Rene better during the shoot and I absolutely loved all the person touches Tricia put together. Her save the date signs for their invitations and the Portuguese flag by the water to tie in Rene’s family was an awesome idea.
It’s good to think about these things when doing an engagement shoot, why not personalize it!Details
My cousin Alicia asked me to shoot her wedding after seeing my cousin Natascha’s wedding photos. I had a very full September schedule this year but they were very sweet and accommodating, giving me my choice of a couple dates.
They got married at Steckle Farms in Kitchener. The ceremony was outdoors and the setting was so gorgeous!!! They had all sorts of really personal touches and really made full use of this amazing location. The reception was held in the barn and had a great rustic atmosphere with great mood lighting! I had a fantastic time catching up with all my cousins, and now I can’t wait for the next family wedding!!! Who’s it going to be…..hmmmm I wonder.

Luiza & Frank have been together for years. I’ve known Luiza since college, so when she got engaged they asked me to be the photographer for their wedding September 8th 2012 wedding.
We had a great day on a farm doing their engagement photos last fall. Everyone enjoyed playing with the cows in the fields. I always enjoy helping a couple get used to me taking their pictures when we do their engagement shoot before. It helps everybody be more relaxed on the big day!
It rained all morning on the day of the wedding. Frank & Luiza have lived in Maple for several years and the ceremony was close to home. They had a big Italian wedding and the bus that was transporting the wedding party got stuck in the mud at the Markham Museum where we did their pictures! We had to call three cabs to transport everyone to the Mississauga reception.
Things like that are stressful at the time and it feels like all your careful planning has gone to waste, but these are the fun stories you’ll laugh about later. These crazy things are what make each and every wedding unique.Details
A few months ago I had a Mothers Day Promotion going on and Shannon contacted me saying that her mom has always wanted to do a photo shoot with her. It was the perfect opportunity and her mother, Julie was overjoyed with the gift and super excited!
On the day of the shoot, Julie and Shannon came in to the studio with different outfits ready and numbered in sequence. Julie came up with the idea that in order to fit everything in an hour they would change outfits every 5 minutes. Some of the outfits were retro, animal print, cocktail/evening, casual and pink heels it was so creative!
I had a great shoot with Shannon and Julie, they really are a spitting image of each other. My face hurt at the end from laughing so much with them, it was an awesome time!
