Alicia is my cousin and we had an amazing engagement shoot, at a very special place called Snyder’s Family Farm. It was so much fun, we all went through a corn maze and a pumpkin patch. My cousin really liked the autumn/fall feel and they are getting married on September 22, 2012 so it ties in very well together. I really adore Lindsay, and they are so cute together! The scenery was great and the weather was beautiful, it was a gorgeous fall day. I have known Alicia all of my life and I couldn’t be more happy for both of them and I believe that the photos really captured their love for one another.Details
Creative photo shoots have always been something that has tweaked my interest. On my free time, it is a goal of mine to do as many creative photo shoots as I can. I think that it is important to do these creative photo shoots because it gives me time to practice different techniques. It is also a great opportunity to meet new hairstylists and make-up artists and use different models for these kind of shoots.
I had the pleasure working with Meghan, who also works at Fab Accessories my other part time job. One day, she mentioned that she dances and I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to do a photo shoot like this with her. Meghan’s hair and make-up was done by Amy who is a good friend of mine. She works at Precision Hair in Waterloo and I have done many photo shoots with her in the past.
For this photo shoot I really wanted to incorporate movement. She was jumping off the couch, tossing her hair back and fourth and doing lots of twirls and spins. Meghan kept asking me what she wanted me to do and I kept saying go with what is natural to you and your dance moves. I feel like you capture the real essence of a person when it is more candid as opposed to being told what to do.Details
Recently, I had a wonderful photo shoot with Melissa, David and their newborn son Sebastian. I am capturing Sebastian’s full year of growth once a month and at the end of the year Melissa and David will receive an album recording his growth! I think that it is important to document the first year of a babies life because they grow so much in that first year.
It is definitely a time that happens very quickly, and is a time that you can’t get back. I always enjoy these photo shoots because I feel like I have become a part of the family almost like an auntie to them. The photo shoot went great, we all had an awesome time and Sebastian was very well behaved; he didn’t cry at all and he had the cutest baseball outfit!
I am really looking forward to the photo shoots to come over the next few months to see how much Sebastian has grown and to capture more special family moments.Details
Debra, a close friend of mine had asked me to go and take photos of her mother and fathers home to record their memories. Her mother had passed away recently and her father a few years ago. Now, her and the family are going through the home figuring out where the belongings should go.
The impression when I walked in was “WOW” there are a lot of things in here! There were plenty of antiques in the house and I have never seen so many lamps in my life! I went through and took photos of all of the personal belongings that they have collected throughout the years. I also noticed her mothers love for pink, she had pink memorabilia everywhere! You could also see in the house that they had a ton of love for each other, and in their personal belongings it felt like they had a lasting connection.
I believe that this is a great way to record somebody’s life that has passed away. I think that more people should consider doing this so you have a keepsake afterwards and can cherish those memories forever.Details
Erin and I bumped into each other at Fab where I work part-time in Waterloo. I helped her find her wedding jewelry for the big day and we really hit it off!!! As we chatted about her wedding she told me she still needed a photographer. I told her it happens to be your lucky day! I know just the person… ME!
Erin and Allen are getting married August 4th and share the same passion for travel and love being outdoors! They must have the nicest dogs, Hudson and Zoey. The engagement shoot took place at the Huron Nature Area. If you’ve never been there, it’s a really nice outdoorsy area!!!
Getting along with Erin and Allan was not hard at all. They’re so easy to love. I couldn’t help but enjoy watching the chemistry between them. If any two people are meant to be it’s definitely these two!
One of my favourite ways to meet new clients is through my existing ones. When I shot Nicola’s wedding two years ago I met her sister Ali and her fiancée Ted. She really liked Nicola’s photos and now I’m getting ready to shoot her wedding when she & Ted get married on October 6th.
We had a wonderful time shooting their engagement photos in behind Elizabeth Ziegler School in Waterloo. There is a cute little park there that was great for photos that included their two beautiful boys and pup. The location was perfect because Ali actually went to school at Elizabeth Ziegler when she was little and they’re getting married just around the corner at a nearby church.
I love it when everything comes together so perfectly. The weather was definitely in our favor too!
This past year really has been a challenge for me with obstacles to overcome and facing life’s realities. The wonderful thing about life is that there are so many doors to open and close filled with new opportunities and adventure!
Lately I have been feeling very inspired to do more creative work!!! I keep a journal of all the things I would love to take photos of… if I didn’t I would most definitely forget everything! With the new studio space it’s been great to really think about next steps and moving forward with the business.
As an artist it’s as natural to have high moments as it is to have low ones! What I always try to remember is that it doesn’t matter what I do, it’s just important that I DO IT!
The new studio space is located at 122 King St. S Waterloo! If you would like to book a shoot feel free to send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a phone call 226-339-3830:)
Here are some before and after shots of the studio space! Let me know what your think!
